Down time is wonderful. A cup of tea, something interesting to read, snuggled and cozy, having a relaxed- feel good moment. In all things we do the Holy Spirit desires to be part of it, by our side as the Help and Comforter in our lives. When we remember that, it allows the rest to become that much nicer and pleasing, knowing our comfort is close. I learned to acknowledge the Spirit’s presence in me and with me as the source of peace, versus trying to capture rest on my own. For in the Lord we find rest for our souls (Matthew 11:28-30). Therefore, when we give Him our heavy burdens, we can trust Him to revive us and allow us to experience guilt free the gentle moments in life we so need dearly. And I mention guilt-free, because so much will compete for that down time space, but us having rest in God and from life’s commands is His heart. Embrace it, and enjoy it.
“The LORD replied, My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest,” (Exodus 33:14 NKJ).
